VGood Co ‘Not’ Spreads

VGood Not Spreads

VGood Co has emerged to make packing lunchboxes or just dealing with dietary requirements, in general, a lot easier. Starting with their three VGood Co ‘Not’ Spreads. Why do I call them ‘Not’ Spreads you may ask? Because these three are imitation nut spreads. PeaNOT butter in a smooth or crunchy or HazelNOT Choc spread are now available for those living with nut allergies. You can find them at selected stockists; so far in Victoria, NSW, ACT, SA, and TAS. These are made in an Allergen Friendly Factory and are free from the most common 14 allergens. Making them vegan-friendly, gluten, dairy, tree nut, peanut, soy, egg, lupin free and more. Now, these are made in Turkey but VGood is Australian Owned and Operated.

You’ll find the gluten free label on the side of the jars, with the many other nutritional claims. Now all of these spread perfectly well onto toast. However, I wanted to see what else they could do. So while I talk about how they taste and what’s in them I’ll show you three recipe ideas. Let me know if you want these recipes and I’ll post them as well. Starting with the PeaNOT Smooth; the ingredients include Roasted Chickpeas, Vegetable Oil, Sugar, Sea Salt, Allergen friendly flavour, and Cocoa. You definitely get a strong peanut butter feel to this, it smells roasty and nutty. If you eat chickpeas a lot you might notice that flavour coming through but it’s really not overpowering. Additionally, while there is sugar as an ingredient, this doesn’t come off as very sweet.

I am so impressed in the level of flavour it brought to my Chilled Satay Soba Noodles recipe. It brings out a lovely satay flavour with a creamy smooth finish. Definitely a must try if you pick up the VGoods Not Spreads in PeaNOT butter.

Onto the PeaNOT butter crunchy variety which is very similar to the smooth just with additional texture. Ingredients include roasted chickpeas, vegetable oil, sugar, roasted sunflower seeds, sea salt, allergen friendly flavour, and cocoa. It has the same flavour as the smooth variety, so I wanted to show off a sweet recipe this time. PeaNOT butter and dark chocolate cookies. We are here to talk about the spread though so let’s get into that. You might find the roasted sunflower seeds a little jarring. They seem to be in slithers rather than chunks which threw off my brain a little. Still, you’ll get the flavour, you’ll get the crunch so that’s a win.

Onto the final variety which is the HazelNOT spread. In this you have roasted dried chickpeas, vegetable oil, sugar, cocoa, and natural chocolate flavour. This has a lovely smell, even Brody thinks so – although I think it is the furthest of the three to imitating the original perfectly. That’s not to say it isn’t delicious though – I can eat this down with a spoon. I personally feel that you get a sense for the chickpeas more in this than the other two. Of course, the chocolate overpowers that. Once you get a taste, you’ll definitely think of nutty chocolate goodness. It’s smooth too, a little on the thick side but that could be the cold house. For this I just needed to make a nut free hazel choc slice. It is a delicious recipe that I think will go up first.

In fact, Brody loves the recipe so much, it magically disappears from the fridge. That’s it for the VGood Co ‘Not’ Spreads. I hope you enjoyed it.
