Product Reviews

I am by no means a professional food critic. However, I do have over two decades of being a diagnosed coeliac under my belt. This means, I have first hand knowledge and experience with gluten free products. So hopefully, my reviews and taste tests will help you find a product you love.

My product reviews are separated into categories for ease of access. This is helpful, especially if you are only looking for a certain type of review. In the bread and bakery section you will find reviews on all those products in that area of a store. Bread, rolls, wraps, cakes, cookies and so on. You’ll find the Meat, Seafood and Chilled are filled with packaged deli meats, fresh salads, uncooked meat products and any dressings that need to be chilled.

Dairy and desserts focuses on cheese, chocolate mousse, yoghurt and all those good things. The pantry category is the most in depth with your instant meals, ingredients, pasta, cereals and any other shelf stable product you can think of. The freezer section features ice cream, frozen desserts and microwave meals. For beverages we have two sections, alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Of course every one’s favourite area is Snacks and Confectionery. Here you will find chips, jerky, nuts, lollies and chocolates. All that good stuff.

You can browse my reviews by Store or Category.

Unless stated the products I have reviewed have been paid for by myself or my partner. If I am ever asked to review a product I will state as such at the top of the review.

  1. Hi Ashlee, just wanted to say I love your website. I’ve just been diagnosed coeliac after almost 3 years of trying to figure out what is going on with a combination of autoimmune issues and multiple specialists visits. So embarking on coeliac life now and loving all the great product reviews you have.
    Thank you

  2. Would you like more people to support the posting of legit data on your site? I am a Coeliac with severe intolerence, but a love of flavour and food. I have noticed that you do not have as many postings as the US and UK sites, which is a shame as I personally and professionally know how tricky locating safe items is in Australia. If you would relish an additional resource that is based in Sydney, NSW, please don’t hesitate to let me know. I have some rocking recipes too, if that is supportive.

    1. Hi Andie;
      At this time I am not opening up the website to other contributors. There is a lot of misinformation out there, like ‘levels’ of Coeliac Disease. Internal damage will occur in those with Coeliac Disease and there isn’t any severity to that.
      By continuing to be the only contributor my readers can rest assured that I have done all my measures as listed in the overviews and that all the product reviews are done by someone with the same tastebuds so there is a unity to the reviews.
      Thank you for the offer and I hope you enjoy the website.

  3. Have you done a comparison between the different gluten free flours available – ie Woolies, Coles, Aldi, Orgran, etc. They seem to have varing mixes of flours and I am wondering if one is better than any of the others for general cooking.

    1. Hi Jillian;
      I haven’t done a comparison between any of the flour mixes but I use any of them that I have on hand in my baking mixes. I like to make sure that my recipes at least always work with Coles and Woolworths. Hopefully that helps.

  4. My 7 months pregnant grand daughter has just been diagnosed with both gluten and lactose intolerance. while we are reassuring her that the diet restrictions will improve her health tremendously, (she has been in and out of hospital) she is focussing only on those things she can’t eat. Is there a web site that can tell us of replacements she can make for common food items. Have found the vegemite one. She is on a low budget and many of the flours etc. are very highly priced. Hope you don’t mind me reaching out to you. Many thanks, Jan Murphy

    1. Hi Janis;
      No there isn’t really a website out there that I know of that only shows replacements. The best thing to do would be to look at bloggers like myself to see what we recommend and have reviewed.
      Thanks for reading and I wish you and your grand daughter the best of luck.
      – Ashlee
