Restaurant Reviews

All of my restaurant reviews are based on my personal opinions and experiences. I am by no means a professional food critic just a Coeliac with a passion for food and sharing the best gluten free restaurants around Victoria and Australia. I hope that you enjoy my reviews.

The Rating Stars

You’ll notice on each review in the top corner there are two rows of stars. These stars represent the two different categories that I asses when I dine at a restaurant. The first lot of stars is the most important for those of us with Coeliac Disease. These five stars are to rate how Coeliac friendly the restaurant is.The following line of stars relates to the more general aspects of the venue. This covers the food, the service, the atmosphere and price.

The Coeliac Friendly Star

Determining how Coeliac friendly a restaurant is revolves around these following points:

  • A full five star rating will be provided to the Coeliac Society Accredited Restaurants.
  • Cross contamination knowledge within the restaurant.
    •           Whether the restaurant is either 100% gluten free.
    •            If they have a completely separated cooking area for the gluten free foods.
    •            Their cross contamination measures including: Washing their hands. Changing gloves when interchanging meals.
    •            If the restaurant prepares, stores and/or cooks food in the same area as gluten.
    •            If the restaurant has no idea about the dangers of cross contamination.
  • What percentage of the menu is gluten free.

The Service and Atmosphere Star

The five stars to determine the quality of the restaurant is split between:

  • The atmosphere
  • The service
  • The quality of the food
  • and price.

That’s the rundown, if you have any further questions feel free to let me know. For transparency within my reviews, unless stated every meal was paid for by myself or my family. If I am ever asked to attend a venue it will be stated very clearly at the beginning of my review.

Finally, if you have any venues you would like me to review please leave a comment or email me and let me know.

  1. Keep up the good work! You make me feel so comfortable eating out. Of course I ask my own questions too but you cover so much in your reviews it’s fantastic.

  2. We went to Captain Gummies for fish and chips gluten free meal as we have done several times before but because it was Good Friday was told we are not doing any gluten free tonight as too busy because it’s Good Friday haha so much for being helpful with separate fryer won’t go back in hurry Most Unfair Treatment

    1. Unfortunately, it is safer for those who do both gluten and gluten-free fish and chips to stop offering gluten-free during the peak times to avoid the risk of contamination. Almost all the fish and chip places that offer gluten-free had a cut off for gluten-free options on Good Friday. It is personally, great that they take our health so seriously. I know that a lot of them had been advertising these hours all week. It is a shame that you missed out.

  3. So many interesting reviews I’ve found here. Hopefully you manage to get some more up over my side of town, down south 🙂
