Cauldron Cake Pops

Gluten Free Cauldron Cake Pops

A quick and easy Halloween recipe that is just perfect for your party this season. The Cauldron Cake Pops are great for getting the whole family involved. Whip these up using the cake pop recipe below or you can even use a gluten free pre-made cake mix. Once made get the kids to dip them in the chocolate and place them on a baking tray to set.

Almost any cake mix can be turned into cake pops. You can either bake them in a cake pop mould or a cake pop maker. I picked mine up from Kmart for under twenty dollars. To create the cauldron exterior, melt some chocolate, add in food colouring and then dip. Laying them on a flat tray allows the chocolate to pool and create the flat top. They will need to set in the fridge until solid, I like to keep them in the fridge for an hour.

I created the handles out of food safe cable ties. Just make sure no little mouths accidentally eat them. For added decoration you can pipe green buttercream frosting on the top. This creates the appearance of a green potion bubbling out the top of the cauldron. Of course other colours will work for your potion as well as just have fun with it.

Servings: 12 Cake Pops

Ingredients

Cake Pops

  • 140 Grams Caster Sugar
  • 50 Grams Butter
  • 120 Grams Gluten Free Flour
  • 20 Grams Cocoa Powder
  • 1/4 Tsp Salt
  • 1 1/2 Tsp Baking Powder
  • 120 Ml Milk
  • 1 Whole Egg

Cauldron Decor

  • 150 Grams Dark Chocolate
  • 2 Drops Black Food Colouring

Instructions

  • Pre-heat your oven to 160°C Fan Forced or 180°C non fan forced. If using a cake pop maker then turn that on instead.

If Mixing your own Cake

  • Cream together your butter and your sugar until fluffy.
  • Add in your gluten free flour, cocoa, salt and baking powder and combine.
  • Once the dry ingredients are mixed together add in your milk and your egg and stir.
  • *If you are using a pre-made gluten free cake mix create it according to the packet.
  • Pour the cake batter into your cake pop maker or the moulds. When I use my moulds I fill them all the way to the top on one tray and then they rise into the top half of the mould. For the cake pop maker I leave the batter just down from the rim.
  • Bake according to your cake pop machine instructions or for 20 minutes in the oven. You want a skewer to come out clean. Allow to cool and pop your sticks in them.

Cauldron Decor

  • Melt your chocolate in a bowl over a pot of boiling water.
  • Add in your food colouring and mix well.
  • Dip your cake pops into the chocolate, spin them around to coat them well and then place upside down on a tray lined with baking paper.
  • Fridge them until set and then frost them if you desire. Enjoy!
