Paloma Pops

With the weather kind of starting to warm up, our thoughts turn to what cold treats we can enjoy in Summer. One of these treats just so happens to be a Paloma Pops. The proud Australian business believes that treats ‘can be guilt free.’ Which is why all their Australian made pops contain only real fruit and ‘nothing naughty.’ They contain no added sugar, preservatives or artificial flavours. There are four varieties you can pick up from your local stockist. Use their online stockist list to find the one nearest to you in NSW, VIC, SA or WA.

Watermelon & Lemonade

The first flavour I tried is their Watermelon & Lemonade. Watermelon is one of my favourite flavours so I couldn’t wait to dig into this ice pop. The ingredients like the company says are natural with nothing hidden. Just watermelon, grape juice, water, lemon juice and guar gum as a stabiliser. They are made in a facility that also processes milk, soy, sesame, peanuts, tree nuts, egg, fish, crustacea and sulphites.

I was pleasantly surprised with the zesty tang that hit me first. That tip has the strong citrus flavour which really cleanses the palate. This is followed by the lovely watermelon flavour. Just like you’d get in juice. It’s really refreshing and is great for cooling off. All the flavours are lovely but my love of watermelon definitely skyrockets this to the top of my favourites list.

Cloudy Apple & Passionfruit

The other juice style ice pop is their Cloudy Apple & Passionfruit. Again the ingredients are no fuss. Just simple cloudy apple juice, grape juice, passionfruit and guar gum as a stabiliser. Again it is processed in a facility that has milk, soy, sesame, peanuts, tree nuts, egg, fish, crustacea and sulphites. They do have a warning that some seeds may remain.

Cloudy Apple & Passionfruit Paloma Pops

This pop straight up tastes like cloudy apple juice. I didn’t get too much passionfruit but it is a touch there. It works well with the other fruit flavours. Again as a juice style pop rather than a cream based one this is really refreshing and cooling. It’ll work wonders on a hot day.

Mangoes and Cream

The first of the two cream based ice pops is the Mangoes and Cream. Since I love mangoes this was another pop that I could not wait to enjoy. As a cream based pop this does contain Milk as a major allergen. Again the other ingredients are basic; mango, grape juice, water and guar gum as a stabiliser. Again these have the statement about them being processed in the same facility as soy, sesame, peanuts, tree nuts, egg, fish, crustacea and sulphites.

I really enjoyed this one, it’s sweet and creamy. It really goes without saying that if you like Mangoes, then this is for you. It has more of a smoothie flavour whereas the others so far have been more juice. It’s got that mango puree kind of feel. It is still very refreshing but has that more dessert feel to it.

Strawberry & Cream

The final variety available is the Strawberry & Cream which again is a cream based pop. It does contain Milk as an ingredient and carries the same processed in the same facility as sesame, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, egg, fish, crustacea and sulphites. The other ingredients are very natural just like all the others; strawberries, grape juice, water, guar gum and vanilla extract.

Paloma Pops

These melted the fastest out of all the popsas you can tell by the photo. They have that real creamy strawberry and cream taste. Again it is more of a smoothie with a lovely flavour. Still very refreshing and smooth and again has that more dessert feel to it. Really delicious and a great way to cool off.

These are a great way to keep cool this summer. As mentioned above you can pick up the Paloma Pops from independent stockists. If these don’t do it for you though, you can find other frozen dessert reviews over on my freezer page.
