New: Wicked Sister Desserts

Gluten Free Wicked Sister

Note: Sadly the Tiramisu will no longer be available and has been replaced with a gluten version.

Way back in 2015, I reviewed the original range of Wicked Sister Desserts. Back then the pannacotta and creme caramels were unique ready to eat desserts. Finally, an option that wasn’t just chocolate mousse. Therefore when they announced that they were expanding their range to include 2 new gluten free flavours, I couldn’t wait to review them. Upon finding out that one of the new desserts was Tiramisu and I had my keys in hand, heading to the shops.

Gluten Free Wicked Sister Desserts

So far these two are exclusive to Woolworths stores. They cost $4 for a pack of 2 and the flavours are Chocolate Mousse and Tiramisu. Obviously, of the two the Tiramisu is definitely more exciting as it does include a sponge cake base. When I visited my store there was only one left. Clearly, I am not the only one excited about this new opportunity.

Tiramisu (No Longer Gluten Free)

Gluten Free Wicked SIster Desserts Tiramisu

Starting with the allergens for anyone curious, the gluten free Tiramisu contains Dairy and Egg. It also states that it contains 2.3ml of alcohol per 100g. A big heads up, if you are on your L’s or your P’s DO NOT eat this then drive. Brody made that mistake when he was on his L’s, yes it does show up on a breath test. In terms of flavour, it is extremely rich. There is a punch of coffee flavour, deliciously dark and bitter chocolate with a smooth creamy mascarpone filling. The bottom sponge was soaking with coffee flavour. Just a standard soaked sponge texture. I have only had Tiramisu once before, so I shared with Brody who enjoys Tiramisu on a regular basis. His opinion was that it was a great gluten free version, so hopefully, for anyone newly diagnosed this can fill that void.

Chocolate Mousse

I will admit I wasn’t excited for just another chocolate mousse. However, after tasting it, it isn’t a standard chocolate mousse. For those with allergies, it contains milk and soybean but may contain traces of eggs and nuts. This mousse definitely has a bitter dark chocolate flavour. It also has a lovely hint of coconut, a quick look at the ingredients does let us know it has Coconut oil. Topping the extremely airy mousse is hardened dark chocolate pieces which add a nice crunch. It is definitely a mousse I would happily eat again.

That’s it for the two new gluten free desserts from Wicked Sisters. Share the love with other Coeliacs and let Wicked Sister know you would love to see more gluten free products! I can’t wait to see what else they possibly could come up with.

Until Next Time;

Ashlee; The Aussie Coeliac.
