Davies St. Food Co. – 100% Gluten Free

Rating

While under lockdown so many new places popped up that I wanted to visit. Davies St. Food Co in Rosanna is one of these. This new 100% gluten free take away cafe, is providing great food options for Coeliac’s as well as pantry staples. You can visit them at 29 Davies Street in Rosanna Monday to Saturday from 8am til 2pm on most days. They are open until 5pm on Fridays. At the moment the Cafe is take away only, however they are hoping to be able to have a small seated area next year. They have a weekly menu that you can find on their social media. Additionally, you can pre-order meals via their website. Which makes picking up your lunch or dinner extremely handy.

Me and my best friend Matt visited for lunch on a Saturday. Since we weren’t sure about the parking situation and had more to do in the city, we decided to public transport it. Thankfully, Davies St. Food Co. is just a bit of a walk away from Rosanna station. Additionally, we took our takeaway to the park across the main road. There is a small carpark out the front though for those who will be driving in. To make sure we didn’t miss out I pre-ordered our meals via facebook. I also picked up their Christmas Cookie Decorating kit which I’ve filmed us doing. I’ll be posting that to my social media.

Davies St Food Co Cornflake Chicken and Chips Gluten Free

To start off our mains consisted of Gluten Free Cornflake Crumbed Chicken and Chips ($8.50) this also includes a sauce. This is our pick of the day. For $8.50 it is decent value in the minds of both myself and Matt. You’ll get a handful of chips with visible seasoning and three chicken tenders. I opted for the buffalo sauce to add an extra kick. The chips are really lovely with a nice texture and well cooked. The chicken has a beautiful crunch thanks to the cornflakes while maintaining it’s moisture. Even on its own it has nice corn and chicken flavour but dip it in that buffalo sauce and you’ll get a creamy kick. Both of us would buy that again.

Our other main meal is the Beef Burger. We opted to go with a side of chips with this as well, which was an extra $. This one in Matts mind isn’t as good value. Although, in terms of gluten free burgers it is on par for what you get. Then bun is quite lovely with a good flavour and mouthfeel. You’ll get some tomato, lettuce and cheese but where the burger shines is that beef pattie. It has a lot of seasoning to compliment the beef flavour. It is a little fragile but definitely delicious. Also quite filling and I could imagine grabbing it again. With the rotating menu though, I’ll be trying a range of different items whenever I visit.

I was going to grab some of their sweet muffins, but we accidentally forgot them. I’ll definitely have to try them in the future though. I did get a mango smoothie, which was very refreshing on the boiling hot day. You can also pick up as mentioned some pantry staples. Since it is so close to Christmas, they had GF Precinct fruit mince pies. Other groceries you can get include frozen choc chip cookie dough, San Remo pasta, Senza products, Ardor products, the Fody range and more. Definitely a nice one stop shop for the area.
