My august box was marked with a neon orange ‘Fragile’ sticker and was mildly heavy.
I’d never had a box marked as fragile before and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t excited at the idea of it. If you want any of the details of the boxes you can visit this page for prices and delivery dates.
To receive the September box all orders must be placed before 5pm AEST on Saturday the 12th of September.
The first thing I picked up out of the box was the reason I imagine for the ‘fragile’ label on the outside. The chilli freak in my jumped for joy when I noticed that we had been given a full size bottle of Cholula original hot sauce. I adore Cholula hot sauce. While to me personally the original flavour is not incredible hot it does give a nice kick to any of my stews, soups or other meals I add it to.
You can purchase Cholula hot sauce from Woolworths for $4.99AUD; however at the time of this post, it is currently on sale for $3.49AUD.
Secondly I picked up a pack of lightly sea salted chips from the brand Tyrells sea salted chips. Chips are probably my main weakness when it comes to snack foods. There is just something about those thinly sliced salted pieces of carbs.
These are brand new to the shores of Australia, recently Coles have partnered with Tyrells who is a UK based company. They have agreed to a 12 month exclusive supply deal which will see these chips and their other products on the shelves of 700 Coles stores all over Australia, you can read more about that here at Ausfoodnews. You can purchase a pack for $4.62AUD.
There was another bottle snuggled in among the items; this was a 750ml bottle of Buderim Ginger Cordial. I’m not overly excited about this product. Ginger isn’t my favourite flavour. This will probably be the least used item out of the box. Hopefully i can whip up some cocktail recipes using it. You can purchase this from Woolworths for $4.19AUD.
We got two more Carmans bars. One in the Gourmet dark chocolate and cranberry protein bar and the other in Almond, Cashew and Cranberry. You can purchase a pack of 5 bars for $5.50AUD, which works out to $1.10AUD each.
I’d seen the advertisement for the next product in the latest issue of their magazine. When I saw them I was definitely intrigued and now I get to try them! From Be Natural, we received two sample packs of their new flavoured legumes and nut snacks. I received chickpeas and fava beans. I’m not a huge fan of the dehydrated texture so I’ll probably use these int he same way i use my simply wize BBQ corn snacks and re-hydrate them in my rice cooker. You can purchase packs of 5 from Woolworths for $4.99AUD. However, at the date of this post, they are on sale for $4.00AUD.
From Slendier we received a full size pack of their konjac noodles. These can be a little slimy when used but I don’t mind the texture like Mr B does. I enjoy throwing these noodles in my wok and making myself up a little vegie stir fry. They are low in nutrients but also low in all the bad stuff as well. In general they are a good filler. A box like the one we received will cost you $3.69AUD from most supermarkets.
Another item we recieved that was advertised in their magazine were the new cook simple heat and eat meals. I received a Tibetan Dahl. I am very eager to try this but unfortunately I have quite a few heat and eat meals that need consuming before I can get around to try this one. They do have an american website unfortunately they do not ship to Australia, but they can be found on the shelves of Coles. At coles you can pick up the Tibetan Dal meal for $6.59AUD.
There was also a small snack sized sesame and honey bar from Springhill farm. I am waiting on a response from them regarding their retail stockists as on their online store you can only purchase in bulk quantities. The Sesame and Honey snack bars are on their website at $38.50AUD for 27 items. Which works out to roughly; $1.43AUD each.
For the month of August the box contained ten products. There was nothing overly sweet to subdue my inner sugar fairy although that is probably a good thing. The box has a retail value of $28.10AUD which as I always mention if you had to pay shipping would have an additional $12 tacked on to it. This box remains to provide great value and products.
Again if you’d like to subscribe to the box you can read all about the pricing details here; alternatively you can go directly to their website Australian Gluten Free Life. That is not an affiliate link.
I can’t wait to see what they pack into our September box. Let me know if you have had any experiences with any of the products in this months box in the comments below or join our discussion on other social media platforms.
Until Next time;
Ashlee, The Aussie Coeliac. xx
The spinrghill farms stuff is great. I found them in Target and decided to buy one of their gift baskets. You should try one of those. The cookies are amazing.
There is nothing better than the slendier pasta and noodles. They are filling and delicious. I don’t mind the slimy texture either. A must have for anyone on a gluten free diet.
I had no idea that there was a gluten free subscription box available for Australians. I’ll definitely have to go and check this out! I love the Slendier Konjac noodles and eat them all the time.
I can’t wait to see what is in Septembers’ box.
