AGFL: The Box – February

Gluten Free Subscription Box Australia

Another month and another gluten free subscription box from AGFL. As always I am not affiliated with the box and I purchase them with my own money. If you are interested you can find all the previous boxes on my review page. You’ll notice that I began my subscription in 2015. I have a 6 monthly subscription which works out the cheapest, however, you can purchase three monthly or single month subscriptions as well. If you do have any questions about the box itself, head over to the AGFL website. Now that the housekeeping is out of the way, let’s see what they gave us this month.

Lotus Jelly Beans

Almost as if they’d read my mind, the team had Lotus jelly beans in this months box. This works perfectly with the Jelly Bean gluten free guide I posted a few weeks ago. Lotus Pantry items regularly appear in the AGFL, this months though is a little different being a ready-to-eat-product. The jelly beans are very natural in flavour with a soft texture. The 100g pack costs $8.79 on their website and the range can be found in health stores like Go Vita.

Ayam Sweet Chilli Sauce

This sauce arrived just in time, I was making my rice paper spring rolls over the weekend. Ayam has a large range of products that cater for Coeliacs. Late last year we received their Hoi Sin sauce which is great for making duck spring rolls. This sweet chilli sauce from Ayam is definitely more sweet than spicy but it is still well balanced.  You can pick it up for $3.41 at Coles or in bulk through the Ayam online store for $18 for 6 bottles. That is $3 each.

Blue Dinosaur

We are no stranger to the Blue Dinosaur brand and their super bites. This month we got to try the Himalayan Choc bite. Previously we have had the passionfruit super bite and their ginger paleo bar. The Himalayan Choc bite contains cacao butter, dates, cacao, coconut and salt. It is packed with vitamins and minerals to create the ‘healthiest, most natural, most decadent chocolate bare you’ll ever eat!’ On the Blue Dinosaur website, you can purchase 18 bites for $44.95. You’ll pay around $2.50 each by purchasing them this way. If you find them in stores their RRP is $2.99.

Paleo Pure

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and the Paleo Pure muesli tubs are great for on the go. The cherry and cacao was the one we received in our February gluten free box. The 100g tub is perfect for adding some milk in and enjoying at work or even on public transport. The organic grain free baked muesli contains, almonds, pepitas, coconut, sunflower seeds, cherries, brazil nuts and more. Via their online shop, you can pick these and the other flavours up for $5.50 each. Furthermore, you can pick up the all flavours bundle of 7 for $27.95.

Food For Health

Gluten Free Subscription Box

The next item was a weird one. While the Food for Health brand isn’t new to me, the idea of yoghurt coated chickpeas is. Available in yoghurt coated or dark chocolate coated the mini bites are 25g bags perfect for snacking. When purchasing them from the online store you’ll be able to grab a box of 6 packs for around $7.00. The stockists for Food for Health do include Woolworths and coles, however, I haven’t seen these snacks in their aisles yet.

Amy’s Kitchen

The last item in the box is definitely my personal favourite. You already know how much I love the Amy’s Kitchen brand, especially their burritos. I featured them in my favourite Vegan Products too. Amy’s Kitchen is another regularly featured brand in the AGFL box and this month we got a can of refried beans. These are perfect for nachos or tacos or my favourite, the breakfast enchilada. Let me know if you want a recipe for that and I’ll put something together. I couldn’t find these at Coles or Woolworths to get a price. The soups retail for just over $3 so we’ll go with around $3 for the can.

That was it for the February 2018 box. If this seems like a gluten free subscription box you’d like to try out, head over to the Australian Gluten Free Life website. This box has an estimated retail value of; $25.36. Not the most expensive we’ve had but with my six monthly subscription, I only pay $25 including shipping. Therefore, the value is there for me.
